Take Me Out to the Ball Game!

Hey how r u today?

Just a few thoughts on Baseball:

First i know many here in the good old USA like Football best. Thats ok.  I enjoy watching a good football game, the warfare of it all, the strength contest and the strategy, the exciting runs and sometimes long passes.  all good and fine. And i know there r those Football fans who think baseball boring.

Well i find Baseball great on many levels.  its awesome to watch the pros do what they do best, hit long (and short, sometimes more exciting), great fielding plays as an outfielder dives for one or jumps up to steal away a homer.

Its also great to watch Baseball on a slightly smaller scale.  Like where we live we have a farm team that i sometimes get to go watch.  Now if u live where u can go to see the pros in person, enjoy! But for me that’s a long and expensive trip.  I mean i have done it occasionally but due to being way too busy and also a little cheap its not something i do very often.  The local farm team is a short car ride maybe half an hour, and very reasonably priced, while providing a great experience, excitement and  fun.

And then there r the raw beginners.  really raw.  My grand kids are just learning the sport.  They r 6 years old.  This isn’t tee ball but its very informal.  The coach pitches until the batter gets some kind of hit, then the kids run to first etc.  There r no strikeouts, its like a highly modified version of Baseball that is way more training than competition.

There r pros in this game too.  a few kids on the team have their own batting helmets, and bats.  They have been playing with their dads for years.  I salute the devotion of those dads and say nice work, your kid will no doubt excel and you have a great bond and show how much you love your offspring and the game.  BTW some of these kids can really hit!

Then there  r the kids who r experiencing Baseball for the very first time.  They r just learning the rules and it takes them maybe 20 tries to hit the ball.  This is more than ok too.  how many people have the luck to be good at something the first few times at it?

And who knows, some of these raw beginners may wind up in the big pro park some day.  or not.  But anyway its a great time to be there on the sidelines, chatting with family, cheering for the kids and just loving the fun of Baseball, no pressure.  There will b plenty of time for pressure later in life, won’t there?

PLAY BALL!!!
